Hana (ハナ) is a “pure” Spirit born directly from the essence of the First Spirit, Mio Takamiya, making her the sister of Spirits like Tohka, Rinne, and Mayuri. Despite her immense latent power, she possesses little desire for conflict, preferring instead to quietly enjoy the everyday life she has been granted in Tengu City. Following her integration into human society, she enrolled as a student at Raizen High School. She is identified by the AST under the codename Maiden.

During a lively school festival in Tengu City, Hana’s unsealed, pure Spirit nature allows her to effortlessly pierce through a metaphysical veil and notice a quiet, solitary girl observing the other Spirits from afar — Mayuri. Intrigued by the silent observer, Hana breaks away from the crowds to approach her, sparking a seemingly simple interaction that quickly blossoms into a profound and rapidly developing mutual crush. Determined to pull the quiet girl out of the shadows, Hana decides to take the reins and begins whisking an initially hesitant Mayuri away on a series of genuine, heartfelt dates across the city. Through these vibrant outings, Hana joyfully introduces Mayuri to the tangible beauty and warmth of the human world she was only ever meant to passively watch, forging an intensely romantic emotional tether between the two Spirits.

Therefore, Hana passionately argues that in order to truly fulfill her core systemic directive of “maintaining the stability of the Spirits,” Mayuri has no choice but to permanently anchor herself in existence to continually monitor Hana’s heart.

Unleashing the full, devastating might of her unsealed Reiryoku, Hana immediately joins the frontline, wielding her massive halberd Remiel to battle the colossal threat directly alongside the other Spirits. Following Kerubiel’s defeat, the dreaded moment arrives as Mayuri begins to dissolve into golden particles, her original systemic purpose seemingly fulfilled. Flatly rejecting this destiny, Hana forcefully channels her own overwhelming, pure Reiryoku directly into the fading girl, fully enacting their theoretical “loophole” by metaphysically binding their life forces together to anchor Mayuri to the physical world.
The Anchor
The massive influx of Hana’s pure, unsealed Reiryoku successfully overwrites the fading systemic programming, permanently anchoring Mayuri’s fractured essence to the physical world. The Shattering
Following Kerubiel’s defeat, Hana desperately attempts to enact their Reiryoku loophole, but Mayuri’s residual energy proves too dangerously unstable to anchor. Accepting her inevitable fate, Mayuri bravely kisses Shido to safely seal her residual Angel before resting in a devastated Hana’s arms, offering a final, gentle smile and heartfelt thanks for the genuine love she experienced before vanishing into golden light. The absolute, agonizing silence of her disappearance is suddenly shattered by a terrifying metaphysical crack as Hana’s Sephira Crystal instantly corrupts under the weight of her absolute despair. Her radiant pink Reiryoku completely dies, violently replaced by a suffocating, corrosive dark purple miasma as the apocalyptic Inverse Spirit known as the Widow is tragically born.

Kurumi’s Intervention
Observing the absolute annihilation of Tengu City from the shadows, Kurumi Tokisaki recognizes that the sheer scale of the Widow’s tragedy has permanently doomed the current timeline and compromised her own underlying goals. Slipping effortlessly through the suffocating purple miasma, Kurumi summons Zafkiel and realizes a mere physical rewinding of time won’t be enough to cure the Spirit’s shattered heart. Expending a massive amount of her own temporal life force, Kurumi fires the Twelfth Bullet, Yud Bet, directly into the rampaging Hana, forcibly sending the grieving Spirit’s consciousness back through time. Forcefully pulling herself out of her Inversion through love alone, Hana remains completely unsealed, choosing to walk a solitary but peaceful path as she safely carries Mayuri’s enduring spirit within her heart forever.
The Trial by Fire
With Tengu City crumbling and Shido entirely unable to approach the fiercely aggressive Spirit, a desperate Ratatoskr command prepares to authorize the catastrophic Dainsleif kill-satellite. Refusing to let Shido shoulder the immense guilt of executing a Spirit, Kotori makes a desperate, sacrificial gamble by unsealing her own powers and engaging the Widow in a spectacular, brutal clash of Camael’s regenerating flames against Abaddon’s corrosive miasma. Rather than fighting to kill, Kotori intentionally absorbs grievous, agonizing blows to close the distance, finally breaking through the darkness to wrap her arms around a stun-locked Hana in a fiercely warm embrace. Witnessing a fiery girl willing to endure absolute hell just to pull her from her own grief sparks a profound, romantic admiration within Hana’s shattered psyche. Understanding that Kotori’s Reiryoku inherently carries the lingering warmth of the Spirit energy that originally birthed Mayuri, Hana realizes that dedicating herself to her resilient Commander isn’t replacing her lost love, but protecting the very essence she left behind, allowing Kotori to finally heal her heart and safely seal her powers.

Mayuri
Hana is careful around everyone except Mayuri. She knows what she is — a Spirit who is not sealed, carrying power she manages through calm rather than containment, and the people around her are at least partly aware of this. She keeps herself at a certain careful distance from her own weight without quite thinking about it. With Mayuri, this mechanism does not activate. She is present with her in a way she is not fully present with anyone else — leaning in, reaching for her hand without calculating whether to, saying what she means while she means it instead of deciding first whether it is worth saying. Mayuri produces in Hana something that Ratatoskr’s analysts have classified, somewhat inadequately, as a stabilising emotional anchor. What it looks like in practice is two people who have decided to stop being cautious with each other and found that the world did not end.
Hikari
They share an origin — both born from Mio’s essence, both anomalous to Ratatoskr’s intake protocol, both enrolled at Raizen High and assigned to live quietly inside a framework built for someone else’s shape of problem. The parallel stops roughly there. Hana went directly toward everything she wanted; Hikari catalogued everything she wanted and held it at a careful professional arm’s length for months. Hana finds this baffling in the specific way one finds baffling a coping mechanism that was never available to oneself. She understands it well enough to respect it — she does not press Hikari’s silences, does not name things Hikari has not chosen to name — but the understanding is not the same as agreement. She is also, without making a point of it, one of the few people who can tell when Hikari’s composure is weight-bearing rather than genuine, and has learned to simply stay closer on those days.
Hotaru
Hana knows she is the one who brought Hotaru to the first concert and the one who arranged the backstage meeting. She does not assign herself guilt for this in the dramatic sense — she was doing something kind with the information she had, and the information she had was incomplete — but she holds it with a quiet awareness. Kindness that sets something in motion does not stop being kindness. It also does not stop having set the thing in motion.
She understood earlier than most that something was wrong. The drift was visible to her before it was visible to any instrument — the way Hotaru’s presence in a room had thinned without emptying, warm but slightly elsewhere. She stayed closer on the difficult days without asking what was wrong, because asking is not what those days require.
What they have now has a specific shape. Hana comes to concerts and sits in the front row with her, the way she did for the first one and not the forty-six that followed. It costs nothing and it means something precise, and Hana tends toward gestures that are exactly these two things simultaneously.
Shido
The dynamic settled quickly and without particular difficulty on either side. Hana does not hold the initial awkwardness against him — he was doing his job, and none of it was personal — and Shido, who has adapted to being sidelined by a Spirit with more grace than the situation typically demands, found his footing in the adjusted relationship inside of two weeks. What remains is something comfortable and specific: they share a school, a social circle, and a mutual investment in the same network of people, and have arrived at a working friendship through proximity and goodwill rather than design. He brings her tea without her asking on mornings she comes in looking like she didn’t sleep well. She tells him when something is bothering the people he cares about before they’ve decided whether to tell him themselves. Neither of them has felt compelled to name it beyond that.
Miku and the Spirit Community
Miku identified Hana as a kindred spirit within approximately forty-five minutes of their introduction, and has not since retreated from this assessment. The enthusiasm was immediate, full-volume, and entirely Miku-shaped: here was someone with a “girls only” rule more absolute than even her own, someone who deflected Shido by constitutional fact rather than personal effort, someone who understood without needing to be told. Hana finds her overwhelming in the way a warm room is overwhelming after a long time outside — she enjoys it, and she sometimes needs to step out and breathe. She has learned that Miku’s affection is genuine even when it is also, plainly, a little much.
The broader Spirit community received her through Miku’s introduction and on Hana’s own terms thereafter. Tohka, who is her sister by essence if not by shared experience, brought to their first meeting a directness Hana immediately understood: someone who has her own history with the AAA-Class designation and knows exactly what it feels like from the inside. Yoshino, quieter, took longer and asked for less, which Hana found more comfortable than the alternative. The community did not require her to explain herself or account for the way she arrived in their world. She was simply included, and she let herself be.

Remiel is a massive halberd-style axe adorned with long pink ribbons that trail from the junction of handle and blade — the blade itself forged from translucent pink spirit energy hardened to a density that makes it effectively indestructible. The weapon is staggering in size, genuinely disproportionate to Hana’s frame, and she wields it with force that is immediately at odds with her appearance.
Because Hana is unsealed, her relationship with Remiel is fundamentally different from that of sealed Spirits and their Angels. She does not summon and dismiss it with clean efficiency — it manifests when her emotional state tips past the threshold her calm normally holds it below. In practice, Remiel appears reliably in combat situations and during genuine threat, and just as reliably does not appear when she is at peace. Her primary defensive mechanism is, in effect, the maintenance of that peace. She has never been forced to consciously perfect this. She does not have to try particularly hard to be calm. This is, in Ratatoskr’s quietly alarmed assessment, the most precarious aspect of her threat profile: a Spirit who manages AAA-Class power by remaining fundamentally content is stable exactly as long as the contentment holds.
In combat, Hana’s strikes generate massive shockwaves of pink Reiryoku that extend far beyond the physical point of impact — the AST assault wing that opened fire on her in the crater was dismantled not by direct contact with the blade but by the concussive output of a single swing. She does not fight with precision so much as force. She does not need to be precise. The shockwaves reach.
Demon King: Abaddon
Abaddon replaces Remiel completely when Hana’s Sephira Crystal corrupts. It is a heavy executioner’s battleaxe — no ribbons, no translucence, nothing of the warmth of the Spirit Form — radiating a suffocating dark purple miasma that spreads outward from the blade on contact with air. Where Remiel generates shockwaves that push, Abaddon generates a corrosive presence that decays. AST equipment degrades in proximity to the miasma before it is struck. The Fraxinus, receiving a single full-force strike, registered structural damage at the point of impact and for several metres in each direction.
The Inverse Form’s threat designation escalates to SS-Class not because Abaddon is significantly more powerful than Remiel in raw destructive output — the difference exists, but it is not the primary concern — but because the Widow has no internal mechanism that Remiel had. The calm that makes Hana manageable is gone. What remains is uncontained grief in the form of an AAA-Class Spirit with full access to her Reiryoku and no reason to modulate it.
